Goal

To strengthen primary health systems to deliver high-quality, affordable and equitable services to the most vulnerable.

The Challenge

Although Uganda has made progress in expanding health services, large disparities remain. Vulnerable communities—especially women, children and young people—continue to experience preventable illness and deaths due to inequitable access to quality care.

Uganda’s health system remains constrained by inadequate resources, weak accountability, limited responsiveness to emerging health threats, and gaps in service delivery—particularly at primary healthcare level where most people seek care.

Our Approach

We contribute to building a functional primary healthcare system through:

  • Health Promotion and Community-Based Delivery

Strengthening community structures such as Community Health Workers, private providers and community health promoters to improve access to affordable and quality care.
  • Health System Strengthening

Supporting health facilities and frontline workers through capacity building, tools, technologies and evidence generation for system improvement.
  • Advocacy for Equitable Health Systems

Creating platforms for citizen participation, accountability and policy engagement to reduce health inequities.
