Why We Exist

Uganda has made commendable progress over the past two decades in reducing poverty, improving education access, and strengthening key health outcomes. However, this progress has not been universal.

Millions of Ugandans—especially those at the margins of society—continue to face deep inequalities in health, education, livelihoods, gender justice, and climate resilience. With nearly 51% of Uganda’s population below 19 years, and more than 20% living in extreme poverty (with many more at risk of falling into poverty), the country faces an urgent need for solutions that are locally owned, evidence-based and sustainable.

I4DEV exists to play a catalytic role—working with community change agents to co-create innovations that reduce inequities, strengthen resilience, and restore hope that change is possible.
